Privacy
- No accounts, no tracking cookies. Own Chickens is a static website. We do not run ads or set tracking cookies.
- Analytics. We use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service that sets no cookies and does not build profiles of you. It counts page visits (such as which pages are viewed and general referrer, browser and country information) so we can see which guides are useful. It does not track you across other sites.
- Email list. Our email list is run by MailerLite. If you sign up, your email address is stored by MailerLite only to send the starter checklist and occasional seasonal updates, and every email includes an unsubscribe link. The signup form loads from MailerLite's servers, so MailerLite may receive technical data such as your IP address when it loads. If a content blocker stops the form, the page falls back to a link to the printable checklist and nothing is sent.
- Local law finder. The city and ZIP you type are processed in your browser to search our small database. Fallback links open official-source searches on Google, Municode, or American Legal, which have their own privacy policies.
- Hosting. This site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may keep standard server logs such as IP addresses for security.

Commissions never decide what we recommend. Our buying guides explain what to look for, what to skip, and when a cheaper or used option is good enough. We do not publish made-up test results, star ratings, or prices.

Chicken-keeping advice here follows common extension and USDA guidance, written for beginners. It is not veterinary or legal advice. Local law summaries list their official sources and the date we last checked them. If something is out of date, please report a correction.
